A Zemi was an object sculpted by the Indigenous people of the Caribbean to embody sacred spirits. Its three points have been said to resemble the shape of cassava, an essential food staple and an important symbolic element of indigenous life. This necklace layers multiple three pointed shapes, each one articulating to create a larger Zemi. Dried sargassum seaweed has been used to hand dye Sea Island Cotton to create a luxuriant earthy hue.
