This piece was custom made as a wedding gift for a client in Mexico. During our video call I was given a tour of his beautiful house in Mexico City. Local art, in particular luxurious oversized cotton wall hangings and vibrant textiles, were thoughtfully placed around the rooms, giving a real insight into the client's personality and penchant for unique, high quality artwork.
 
It seemed only right to use Barbados' very own exclusive Sea Island Cotton for the fringe in this design- the quality and feel of the cotton is like no other. To achieve the vibrant ‘Flamboyant’ red I used a low impact, eco- friendly fibre reactive dye.
 
The brass emblems were individually pierced and then hammered and shaped to give an organic texture and tactile feel.
 
What I love about this design is that it has been made to be shared by my client and his husband. The sliding brass bead allows the necklace to be adjusted to suit.
